Check out this fantastic new footage of the Lake Dunstan Cycling & Walking Trail – currently under construction, this wonderful 52km / one to two-day trail will link the Central Otago towns of Cromwell and Clyde.
The Lake Dunstan Trail is set to extend and complement the well-established Great Rides in Central Otago and the Southern Lakes, providing a key link with the Otago Central Rail Trail and the Roxburgh Gorge Trail, both of which are part of Ngā Haerenga – The New Zealand Cycle Trail. It's part of a long-term dream that will provide cyclists with an off-road link all the way from Queenstown to Dunedin. How great would that be?!
Winding beside Lake Dunstan, the Kawarau River and the mighty Clutha Mata-au, this grade 1 (easiest) to grade 2 (easy) trail will wow riders with its spectacular landscapes, and incredible trail building including cantilevered sections 'suspended' above the lake.
