It doesn’t matter who you are, there’s a bike ride for everyone with the third edition of the Motu Special mountain bike event on Sunday 27 August; and the second Rere Falls Trail Adventure Ride following on Sunday 29 October.

The Motu Special has five different races: Weet-Bix Tomtit Special, Motu Community House Kiwi Special, PAK ‘n SAVE Blue Duck Special, Ballance NZ Falcon Special and PGG Wrightson Weka Special. Distances range from 5km for the Tomtits (ages seven- to 15-years-old) up to 50km for the Wekas.

October’s Rere Falls Trail Adventure Ride will also offer multiple distance options, with categories for teams and individuals. The day will highlight the Rere Falls Trail, which is part of the New Zealand Cycle Trail and linked to Motu Trails.

Longer-distance Adventure riders will start at Motu-vation café in Motu and pass the historic Moutohora rail bridge, Rere Rockslide and Rere Falls.
All riders will experience Eastwoodhill Arboretum and will finish at The Jolly Stockman hotel, where entertainment and a prize-giving will wrap up the day.

The Rere Adventure is a ride not a race, intended for people to have a great day of Gisborne biking and seeing the sights. E-bike riders are welcome to take part in the Rere Adventure ride, while the longer distances are best matched with a mountain bike.
