Avanti Bike Ready Checklist

Adventure on New Zealand's Great Rides with Avanti

If you’re lucky enough to have your own bike to take on one of New Zealand’s Great Rides, there are a few maintenance checks you should do before heading out on the trails, especially if your bike didn’t get much use over Winter.

  • Lube your chain. A well lubricated chain makes turning the pedals easier and helps your bike and it’s components last longer.
  • Check your gears shift nice and smooth and are not making any unusual noises. If they are, and you’re not confident in changing them yourself, take your bike to your local Avanti dealer.
  • Check your tyres for any visual signs of excessive wear, cracking or glass fragments. If so replace them, as you would not want to have a blow out while out riding.
  • Visually inspect the brake & gear cable for any signs of excessive wear and / or corrosion.
  • Check your brake pads for any excessive wear. If in doubt have your Avanti dealer check them.
  • If you have a Dual Suspension bike, check your Fork & Shock Pressures (sag) before heading out riding.
  • If you’re riding in the very early or late hours of summer, make sure your bike has lights to help you and others.

And of course before heading out riding, check you have all of the riding essentials.

Nutrition and water

Spare tube (and tyre levers if necessary)

A Pump or CO2 cannister.

… and maybe a multi tool.

If you have any doubts about the condition of your bike, you can always take it in to your local Avanti dealer to inspect and service.
