Megan Gale, Maramataha Bridge, The Timber Trail - Tourism New Zealand

Tourism New Zealand has announced Aussie star Megan Gale as its first ever ambassador to promote tourism, cycling and The New Zealand Cycle Trail to the Australian market. It is hoped the International model, designer and actress’s influence and family connection to New Zealand will increase awareness and preference for New Zealand as a world-class cycling destination.

In 2015 Megan cycled the Otago Central Rail Trail and The Timber Trail, accompanied by locals including cycling Olympic gold medallist Sarah Ulmer, cross-country cycling Commonwealth Games silver medalist Sam Gaze and celebrity chef and writer Annabel Langbein.

Tourism New Zealand are excited to welcome Megan as a new cycling ambassador, and are keen for visitors to experience New Zealand’s spectacular cycle trails as well as the very best of our food, wine, culture, history and stunning scenery all within such close reach.

Megan says that New Zealand is in her blood. Her Mother is part Māori and so her connection to New Zealand has always been strong. She loves cycling for fitness and relaxation, and so to combine it with travel for her is the perfect mix, describing her experiences as ‘like riding through a postcard’.

We’re wondering which of the Great Rides Megan will tackle next…
