Congratulations to the West Coast Wilderness Trail on winning the Bikewise NZ’s Most Favourite Place to Cycle competition!

Paul Sinclair voted for the Kawhaka section of the trail which traverses his very own property. Purchased back in 1976, Paul has always looked to preserve the historic tracks and water races developed between 1870 and 1915.

Now 65, Paul describes himself as a very part time cyclist, but has recently purchased an electric bike to help him explore the many cycling tracks on offer.

You can read about Paul’s story here, the appeal of his land, and Toms Hut which serves as a great base to explore the native forest and fauna.

This is a fantastic win out of over 1900 nominees, and extremely worthy of the $500 bike voucher prize!
