Ashley Cassin riding the Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail

The Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail has had a flurry of media coverage over the last few weeks. One of the stories was about Ashley Cassin, a man who most certainly likes a challenge. Ashley who is from the West Coast pledged to ride the entire 301km Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail in one day for Blue September, a month devoted to raising awareness and funds for the treatment of prostate cancer. To give you a rough idea of just how crazy Ashley is, we recommend 6 days to ride the entire trail!

For those of you who missed the buzz, or are now wondering how he got on, you can read his story here. It would seem that it was the animals who proved more of a challenge. Cassin said he had a “stand-off” with a wandering highland cattlebeast, and ran over a slow-moving possum’s tail near Duntroon. Steady Ashley.

Cassin has now raised some super big funds through his determination, and it looks as though he’s all set for his next challenge riding the West Coast Wilderness Trail as a breast cancer charity fundraiser. We think Ashley is doing fabulous things, and wish him safe and happy travels along Nga Haerenga’s cycle trails.
