Official Partner Programme

The New Zealand Cycle Trail’s Official Partner Programme has been created to enable local businesses to partner with cycle trails in their region, for mutual benefit.

The Official Partner Programme aims to build the profile of the NZCT brand and the individual Great Rides that make up the NZCT; increase the turnover for New Zealand businesses that provide related goods or services; and generate increased downstream economic benefits to regional communities.

The Official Partner programme also aims to enhance New Zealand’s reputation as a premier cycling destination.

The NZCT’s Official Partner Programme was launched in October 2011 with Jenny Ryan from Napier’s Takaro Trails being the first business owner to sign up (with Hawke’s Bay Trails). Since then, hundreds of businesses around the country have signed up as Official Partners with trails in their regions.

To become an Official Partner, your business must meet and maintain certain cycle-friendly standards. These include selling or promoting products or services that relate to the NZCT; providing a warm welcome and a high level of customer service for cyclists; and providing useful first-hand knowledge about the NZCT, including maps and brochures.

Official Partner benefits include:

  • Annual use of the NZCT Official Partner logo at the business’s establishment, on its website and in publications e.g. brochures (non-transferable).
  • Official partners will be invited to promote themselves as part of an official NZCT product directory that will be updated each year for TRENZ, New Zealand’s biggest tourism trade show event.
  • A listing on the New Zealand Cycle Trail’s official website, which includes a searchable database of Official Partners.
  • A listing on the official website for the cycle trail(s) the business has partnered with.
  • Assistance to link to the New Zealand Cycle Trail on Tourism New Zealand’s consumer website.
  • Increased business referrals. The New Zealand Cycle Trail will encourage cyclists to use businesses that display the Official Partner logo i.e. “support the businesses that support the trail”.
  • Updates on cycle trail activities and invitations to Official Partner activities in the region.
  • Additional marketing and sponsorship opportunities are also available for those businesses seeking a higher level of involvement with their local Great Ride.
