Dun Mountain Trail Reopened

The Dun Mountain Trail is now fully reopened and ready to ride again. The trail was closed over part of the Christmas holidays due to bad weather causing slips.

Nelson City Council Manager Parks and Facilities Paul McArthur says the council's contractors had done a fantastic job in clearing slips on the lower section of the trail  in recent weeks, so the trail is now fully open again.

"Riders and walkers are still advised to take extra care when using the new sections of trail close to where slip damage has occurred," Mr McArthur says.

"People should also be aware that the Maitai Valley road is closed from above Smiths Ford due to pipeline works on the road, however this does not affect the trail route as the trail exits onto the Maitai Valley road below this point."
