The Around the Mountains Trail allows cyclists an opportunity to explore and discover some of New Zealand's most secluded and rustic rural settings at a relaxing pace without sacrificing the comforts of home. Those eager to be transported back in time will appreciate the many historic townships and relics left behind by the region’s pioneers. Along the way you can expect to be welcomed by charming locals, served mouth-watering meals and told stories about the beautiful places they call home. All while experiencing real, heartland New Zealand. In November 2010 operations began for one day guided and independent cycle ride products. The day ride offers cyclists a small taste of what's to come with a premium 5 day/4 night guided ride set to kick-off in November 2011.

Best time to ride

The trail’s easy gradient and great local climate make it a good ride all-year-round.

Getting there

Queenstown’s town centre is ten minutes drive from the international airport. There are regular airport shuttles, taxis, rental cars and a local bus service. Many activity and accommodation providers also offer free shuttles to/from the town centre.
